Washington, D.C. — The U.S. Department of State has released the results of the 2026 Diversity Visa (DV) lottery, selecting 55,000 applicants out of millions to apply for U.S. permanent residency.
What Is the Diversity Visa Program?
The Diversity Immigrant Visa Program provides a pathway for individuals from countries with historically low U.S. immigration rates to obtain green cards. Winners are chosen through a randomized lottery system.
How to Check DV Lottery Results
Selected applicants must verify their status online through the official DV Entrant Status Check using their unique confirmation number. The State Department does not notify winners via email or mail—the online portal is the only legitimate way to confirm selection.
Entry period: October 2 – November 7, 2024
Results available: Now through September 30, 2025
Next Steps for Winners
Being selected does not guarantee a green card. Winners must:
Submit Form DS-260 (Immigrant Visa Application)
Attend a visa interview at a U.S. embassy or consulate
Pay required government fees
Meet all U.S. immigration admissibility requirements
Avoiding Scams & Getting Help
The State Department warns applicants to rely only on official government websites for updates. Immigration services like Boundless can assist with application preparation, form submissions, and interview guidance.
