Brampton Firm Fined $40K for Fake Immigration Applications

by Hyacinth

The Ontario government has fined a Brampton immigration company $40,000 for submitting false information in applications to the province’s Express Entry immigration stream.

Gandhi Immigration, based in Brampton, pleaded guilty earlier this month to violations under the Ontario Immigration Act. The company was representing two clients applying through the Express Entry Skilled Trades stream of the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP). One application was filed in October 2022 and the other in March 2023.

According to the province, Gandhi Immigration submitted documents that falsely claimed both applicants met the program’s requirements. In both cases, a company director altered job letters to include duties the applicants had not performed but that aligned with OINP criteria.

Both applications were rejected. The company was fined $20,000 for each case of misrepresentation. In addition, a 25 per cent victim fine surcharge was applied, as required under the Provincial Offences Act. The surcharge goes into a provincial fund that supports victims of crime.
