Kuala Lumpur authorities detained almost 190 foreign tourists for immigration offenses during a raid at a local nightclub early Thursday.
The majority—185 Indonesians—were among those arrested, alongside one Cambodian man and woman and a Nepalese man, all aged between 21 and 35.
Officials found many of the detainees had overstayed their permitted duration or lacked valid travel documents.
All were subsequently transferred to immigration detention centers for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The Immigration Department confirmed the operation on its official Facebook page, stating the raid was conducted in response to public complaints.
The task force included 129 immigration officers supported by 11 officials from the National Registration Department.
This enforcement highlights ongoing challenges in managing immigration requirements and ensuring compliance with Malaysia’s immigration laws.
