Saudi Arabia Lifts Temporary Block on Work Visa Quotas for Select Nationals

by Hyacinth

On June 12, 2025, Saudi Arabia lifted the temporary suspension on block work visa quotas for nationals from Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen. This pause had been implemented on May 28, 2025, as part of regulatory measures affecting the issuance of block work visas until the end of June, coinciding with the conclusion of the Hajj season.

Block work visas are pre-approved quotas issued by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development that permit companies to recruit a specified number of foreign workers. During the suspension period, nationals from the listed countries faced delays in obtaining work entry visas, even if their quotas had already been approved and visa processes were underway.

Following the lift of the suspension, affected nationals holding valid work entry visas who have yet to travel to Saudi Arabia to complete their residency process are now permitted to enter the country. Travelers are advised to verify their eligibility and confirm travel arrangements with their airlines before departure.

The Ministry’s decision aims to streamline foreign labor recruitment while balancing workforce needs and regulatory compliance during peak seasonal periods.
