New Zealand Immigration Approves Full List of New Indian Degrees

by Hyacinth

Immigration New Zealand has announced that an updated List of Qualifications Exempt from Assessment (LQEA) will take effect on 23 June 2025. This update aims to keep the LQEA efficient for applicants holding overseas qualifications.

The LQEA matches overseas qualifications to their equivalent level and type within the New Zealand Qualifications and Credentials Framework (NZQCF), said Sarah Clifford, Director Visa at Immigration New Zealand.

New qualifications from France, Germany, India, Italy, Singapore, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Sweden, and Switzerland will be added to the list. Meanwhile, qualifications from Australia, Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the United States will be updated to improve clarity and consistency.

Clifford also confirmed that India will be included in the updated LQEA starting from 23 June 2025.

For India, the updated list covers bachelor’s degrees that require at least three years of full-time study and master’s degrees requiring two or more years of full-time study. However, the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Executive MBA (EMBA) are not included.

This change simplifies the process for many applicants by exempting recognized qualifications from additional assessment.
