WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced today the end of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Nepal, citing improved country conditions that no longer meet the program’s legal requirements.
Following an interagency review, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem determined that Nepal’s circumstances no longer justify an extension of TPS protections. The termination will take effect at 11:59 p.m. on August 5, 2025—60 days after the official notice is published in the Federal Register.
Current TPS beneficiaries from Nepal must either secure another lawful immigration status or prepare to depart the U.S. before the deadline. The CBP One mobile app is available for those planning to leave the country.
