SINGAPORE, June 19 — Two men suspected of killing an Australian in Bali were briefly held by Singapore authorities before being sent back to Indonesia, the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA) told The Straits Times yesterday.

The men, identified by Indonesian police as 22-year-old MC and 27-year-old PMT, passed through Changi Airport while fleeing to Cambodia after the deadly attack on June 14.

An ICA spokesman said the two suspects were taken into custody upon arrival at Changi and deported to Indonesia the following day, June 17. He added that this action followed ICA’s usual procedures and international civil aviation rules.

Australian news outlet 7News reported that all three suspects are Australian citizens.

At a press conference, Bali police showed items believed to have been used in the attack, including jackets, masks, and a sledgehammer. They also displayed vehicles thought to have helped the suspects escape. Investigators recovered 17 bullet casings, two intact bullets, and over 50 fragments from the crime scene.

If convicted of murder in Indonesia, the suspects could face the death penalty.
