BOSTON – A six-day enforcement operation led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) resulted in the arrest of 370 undocumented immigrants across Massachusetts, including violent criminals and members of transnational gangs, federal authorities announced.
The operation, conducted from March 18 to 23, targeted individuals with serious criminal histories, including members of gangs such as MS-13, Tren de Aragua, Trinitarios, and the 18th Street Gang. Of those arrested, 205 had prior criminal convictions or pending charges, while six were foreign fugitives wanted for offenses including murder, drug trafficking, and organized crime.
Authorities also seized significant quantities of narcotics, including 44 kilograms of methamphetamine, 5 kilograms of fentanyl, and 1.2 kilograms of cocaine, as well as three firearms and ammunition.
ICE officials noted that many arrests occurred after local jurisdictions declined to honor immigration detainers, releasing suspects instead of transferring them to federal custody. This forced agents to track down and apprehend individuals at large in communities across the state.
The operation involved collaboration with multiple federal agencies, including the FBI, DEA, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, ATF, U.S. Marshals Service, Diplomatic Security Service, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Massachusetts. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) also provided key support in the investigation.
